APPLICATION PROCESS
Welcome! To learn more about the BEEP Program and the application process, we ENCOURAGE YOU TO READ THE BEEP GUIDEBOOK (Click here to download Guidebook.).

Applications for enrollment into the 2010-2011 year can be mailed in between September 15 and November 15, 2009. Please be advised that this is NOT a first come first served process for incoming new families. All new applications submitted between September 15, 2008 and November 15, 2009 will bear equal weight.

Some things for NEW FAMILIES to bear in mind:
Be flexible when choosing classroom locations: Not everyone will be able to send their child to closest BEEP classroom. Make three choices and rank them in preferred order. ( Map of classroom locations and descriptions, click here.)

Throughout December: All parents who have applied are invited to an application meeting to learn more about the program. Any parent unable to attend that meeting should contact the Department Assistant for an alternative meeting.

Late January: Admissions decisions are made and notifications are sent to families. At this time a NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT OF $575 is required to confirm a child's placement in a BEEP classroom. If you have any questions, e-mail us.

SCHOLARSHIP CONSIDERATION: GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR PARENTS
Families may receive tuition assistance by obtaining an income eligible voucher through the State of Massachusetts or directly from BEEP. BEEP is able to provide partial scholarships through the Brookline Community Foundation's Fund for Young Children.

Families must meet the EEC income eligibility guidelines in order to receive an income-eligible voucher. Priority for funding goes to families earning less than fifty percent of the state median income (SMI) based on their family size and income. For more information about qualifying for assistance, check the EEC's Financial Assistance Income Eligibility Chart. In some cases, families are eligible when earning up to 85% of the SMI. Please note that both parents/guardians (if applicable) must be working at least 20 hours per week, or in undergraduate school, in order to be eligible for subsidy. Some training programs and ESL courses may also qualify.

Families wishing to receive tuition assistance should check the scholarship box on their BEEP admission application. A BEEP Financial Aid Intake Form will be sent out immediately. If families qualify for income eligible vouchers they will be placed on the Department of Early Education and Care's Centralized Waitlist for Childcare. Families should maintain their waitlist status even if they do not obtain a voucher prior to entering BEEP or if they are not accepted. A voucher can be used at several childcare locations, including Brookline Recreation Programs, through the child's primary school years.

We understand that families who do not meet the criteria for State funds may still require assistance. With this in mind, the Brookline Community Foundation, the BEEP PTO and the Brookline Public Schools established the Fund for Young Children, which provides tuition assistance for preschool and childcare for families in need. Monies for this fund are provided by private citizens and are raised by the Foundation and the BEEP PTO and they are limited.

Families accepted into the BEEP program that do not have a voucher will be asked to provide the following supplemental information:
1. Parent(s) photo identification
2. Identification for children (birth certificates, passport, social security card)
3. Income information-recent paystub(s) for one month, child support, tips, etc.
4. Any information regarding your current financial situation you wish to be considered.

While BEEP's requirements for awarding financial aid are not as stringent as the State's, we ask families who are accepted into the program to provide the same information that the Department of Early Education and Care requires for accountability purposes. We expect applicants to be honest and fair when reporting their financial situation.

The Brookline Early Education Program does not discriminate on the basis or race, gender, ethnic origin or marital status, disability, sexual orientation or political affiliation.

APPLICATION POLICY
First priority in admission is given to those children returning from the previous year, and to siblings of students formerly enrolled in our program. We make every attempt to balance our classes appropriately. Factors that are considered include, but are not limited to, gender, age, primary language, special need, home school district and prior school experience. Age cut-offs are strictly followed. Proof of Brookline residency is required.
