BEEP - An Inclusive Approach
What is an "inclusive program"?
Children with an identified special need attend classes along with a group of
typically developing peers. We strongly believe that this model maximizes progress for ALL children.
Which BEEP classrooms are inclusive?
Each BEEP classroom is considered to be "inclusive".
How did you arrive at this view?
Our community was a research site for Project Impact to studying outcomes of inclusive
classrooms on children. The results led to the fully integrated models seen in Massachusetts.
Why choose BEEP?
Choose BEEP because of its inclusive nature. Children grow from strengths in a
multidisciplinary team working together in a real community welcoming ALL classmates as friends.
BEEP - Individualized Attention & Deep Resources
How do you implement "inclusive" classrooms?
25-35% of students come with an Individualized Education Plan to
meet individual needs. This plan may include classroom goals as well as goals addressed by a therapist.
What specialists work together with teachers and paraprofessionals?
Speech, language, occupational, behavioral, and physical therapy specialists together with social workers are embedded in the
classroom with opportunities for specific progress in their areas of expertise.
What are the benefits?
Developing children benefit from expertise specialists bring to BEEP.
Regular consultation ensures the program meets comprehensive objectives in all developmental domains.
What about teacher and paraprofessional backgrounds?
All have extensive backgrounds in early childhood, bring an educators
eye to curriculum creation and classroom environment making learning come alive in meaningful ways.
BEEP - Many Locations - One Consistent Program
BEEP programs are all over the town, are they consistent?
Each classroom includes a supervisor (either a Program Coordinator or the Principal)
and a social worker. Regular visits and team meetings provide a rich forum for development.
What does BEEP supervise in each loacation?
BEEP maintains close supervision of curriculum, classroom design, learning
& management issues. Working groups engage in professional development throughout the year.

BEEP - Extended Day Options
What about Extended day at Lawrence & Baker?
Lawrence Pre-K and Baker School Pre-K and can remain in THEIR school until 6:00 p.m.
What about Extended day at Lynch, Pierce, & the High School?
Lynch Center, Pierce School Pre-K and the Child Study Center I and II at the High School all have extended day until 3:00 p.m.
What about Extended day at Devotion?
The Devotion Pre-K runs a full day until 2:20 p.m.
What about Extended day at Driscoll, Heath, Lincoln, and Runkle?
Driscoll, Heath, Lincoln, and Runkle all have a Pre-K extended day offering until
2:20 p.m.only.
BEEP - Curriculum
How are BEEP curriculum decisions made?
BEEP curriculum decisions are based on research in the field of early education.

What education goals does BEEP curriculum focus on?
The BEEP hallmark is math rich environments, support for emergent literacy, and a backdrop for exploration and discovery.
What are some specific curriculum educational focuses?
Focus is on number, math language, varied literature, phonemic awareness and letter/
sound relationships encourage children to apply their understanding to new and complex ideas.
How does the BEEP curriculum help develop children?
Organizing around a task and social competency are linked to later school success. We encourage skills in problem solving, emotional regulation and social thinking
How do the children implement that curriculum approach?
BEEP children develop a "plan" for their play, think through art projects, create
a beginning, middle and end to a story and make predictions about science outcomes.
BEEP - Capacity Considerations
Are all BEEP applications accepted each school year?
No. BEEP has far more applications than available spaces in the program. We do give
returning students and siblings preference in placement.
How does BEEP balance a class?
BEEP balance considerations include the number boys and girls and their age range and
whether a child has applied previously and placed on a waitlist.
Are there additional factors balancing BEEP classes?
Yes. Some include, more than one child in a class learning English, a child's home
district school, siblings in the school, a hardship in the family, or family transportation needs.

When does BEEP accept applications for the following school year?
September 15th
Where can I get an application and where does the application go when I finish it?

How many programs should I sign up for?
You should list any program that may be of interest to you but please designate your first choice on the form.
Are there meetings provided for interested parents?
Yes. We have meetings for all interested families in December.
BEEP - Admittance
When are acceptances and waitlist letters sent?
January.
If accepted how do I secure our place in the class?
If offered a space in a program you will have a date by which you need to send a deposit
in order to secure your place in the class.
What if I didn't get a space?
We maintain all applicant information to utilize the waitlist should space become
available.
Does my application this year work for next year too?
No. The applications do not cross over to a new school year. You must fill out another,
indicate you have applied before and submit the form after September 15th of the next year.
